Entrepreneurial Experiences

Have you ever held a garage sale, done hairdressing out of your home, or been a community handyman? Then you've had entrepreneurial experience, learning the "ins-and-outs" of running your own small business.

This is knowledge that is valuable in today's workplace where employers want workers who are self-starters and know how to take initiative.

For example, if you've run a small at-home, child-care service, you know about:

  • Marketing your services.
  • Customer needs and how to fulfill them.
  • Workplace health and safety issues.
  • Setting prices and collecting your fee.
  • Competition--other baby-sitters and what they are charging.

You could add to your Work Experience Section:

1997-1999
At-home Child-care Worker

  • Provided reliable and caring child care services for five families
  • Researched and developed creative art and physical activities
